Playmobil Bach: He hasn't been around for long ... and soon he'll be gone!​

Der kleine Bach von Playmobil. Er hat in unserer Bach-Mission seine "eigene Geschichte". Schon kurz nach dem Start unseres Bach-Hobbys erhielten wir eine Anfrage: "Wollen Sie nicht eine Bach-Playmobil-Figur produzieren lassen?"

The little Bach from Playmobil. It has its “own story” in our Bach Mission. Shortly after we started our Bach hobby, we received a request: “Wouldn’t you like to have a Bach Playmobil figure made?”

Ohne Zweifel verbindet diese kleine Playmobil-Bach-Figur die Welt der an Bachs Musik Begeisterten der Menschheit mit der kleinen Randgruppe, zu der wir uns zählen: zu den Bach-Lovern die Spannendes und Wissenswertes um den Könner herum aufbereiten.

Warum also hat das kleine Bach-Männchen "seine eigene Geschichte", so wie auch das Bach-Geburtshaus, das Bach-Siegel und die Bach-Genealogie? Weil sich zu manchem Bach-Bereich der Hintergrund weiterentwickelt. Unsere Bach-Mission ist ein No-Budget-Projekt. Im Gegenteil: Sie kostet Geld. Buchdruck, Genealogie, Reisen, der Einkauf von historischem Druckmaterial für die Illustrationen.

So why does the little Bach figure have “his own story,” just like Bach's birthplace, the Bach seal, and the Bach family tree? Because the background information on many aspects of Bach's life continues to evolve. Our Bach Mission is a no-budget project. On the contrary: It costs money. Book printing, genealogy, travel, and the purchase of historical printing materials for the illustrations.

Und da war es einfach undenkbar, mehrere tausend Playmobil-Bachs entwerfen und produzieren zu lassen. Zu gerne hätten wir es getan. Viel zu hoch waren aber die Kosten ... und auch das Risiko, auf vielen Kartons vielleicht sogar sitzen zu bleiben.

And it was simply unthinkable to have several thousand Playmobil Bachs designed and produced. We would have loved to do it. But the costs were far too high ... and so was the risk of perhaps being stuck with a lot of unsold boxes.

Besonders zu Luthers 500. Geburtstag tat das weh, als wir hörten, dass zu seinen Ehren eine Figur in einer Limited Edition entstanden war. Uns blieb nur die Hoffnung, dass "unserem Bach" das vielleicht auch einmal passieren könnte. Vielleicht zum 400. Geburtstag, 2085. Oder etwas früher, zum 300. Todestag, 2050. Natürlich nicht wirklich.

It was especially painful on the 500th anniversary of Luther’s birth when we heard that a limited-edition figurine had been created in his honor. All we could do was hope that something like that might one day happen to “our Bach.” Maybe on the 400th anniversary of his birth, in 2085. Or a little sooner, on the 300th anniversary of his death, in 2050. Not really, of course.

Und dann passierte es eines Tages tatsächlich. Der Freistaat Thüringen finanzierte eine Limited Edition ... und das ganz ohne "bachischen Anlass". völlig ohne uns bekanntem Anlass. Was für eine Freude. Was für ein Tag. Was für ein Erlebnis. Ein Bach-Highlight. Nun gibt es dieses Männchen also schon einige Jahre und es nähert sich, wie bei allen Limited Editions, schnell der Tag, an dem der letzte kleine Playmobil Bach seinen Bachfan gefunden hat.
