Playmobil Bach: He Hasn't Been Around for Long ... Soon You Can't Get It Anymore at All!​..

The little Bach from Playmobil. It has its “own story” in our Bach Mission. Shortly after we started our Bach hobby, we received a request: “Wouldn’t you like to have a Bach Playmobil figure made?”..

Without a doubt, this little Playmobil Bach figure bridges the gap between the world of Bach music enthusiasts and the small, niche group to which we belong: the Bach lovers who share fascinating and interesting facts about this master composer..

So why does the little Bach figure have “its own story,” just like Bach's birthplace, the Bach seal, and the Bach family tree? Because the background information on many aspects of Bach's life continues to evolve. Our Bach Mission is a no-budget project. On the contrary: It costs money. Book printing, genealogy, travel, and the purchase of historical postcards, stamps and similar stuff for the illustrations of my websites..

And it was simply unthinkable to have 25,000 Playmobil Bachs designed and produced. We would have loved to do it. But the costs were far too high ... and so was the risk of perhaps being stuck with a lot of unsold boxes..

It was especially painful on the 500th anniversary of Luther’s birth when we heard that a limited-edition figurine had been created in his honor. All we could do was hope that something like that might one day happen to “our Bach.” Maybe on the 400th anniversary of his birth, in 2085. Or a little sooner, on the 300th anniversary of his death, in 2050. Not really, of course..

Can you spot it? The little Playmobil Bach? Of course you can. So small as it is, compared to the large Bach busts and Bach statues, it naturally has a place in the front row..

And then, one day, it actually happened. The Free State of Thuringia funded a limited edition ... and all without any “bachish occasion”. Without any reason we were aware of. What a joy. What a day. What an experience. A Bach highlight. So this little figure has been around for a few years now, and, as with all limited editions, the day is fast approaching when the last little Playmobil Bach will have found his Bach fan..

Can you imagine that two Bach add-ons, of charge, are together worth about twice as much as the little Bach Playmobil man on its own? Why is that? Because there’s the Bach Biography for Children. And the Necrology from 1750. And the Bach Quote Medley. So … two out of three options for you. Plus, we can add those at no cost to us. And ... that’s exactly what we’re doing..

There are very few retailers left where you can still buy the Playmobil Bach set new. And they’re often much more expensive than “Bach 4 You.” And, of course, they don’t include the free Bach add-ons either..

For adults: This is the first short biography about Bach, dating from 1750. It is read recently by a professional narrator in the German style of that era. It comes with the Bach Playmobil figure plus another “Bach goodie.”

On idealo, the Playmobil Bach costs € 12.95 instead of € 13.79. At least, that was the case when this page was created.​.

One seller at Kaufland (... sort of US Wallmart) was asking for the highest price, a whopping € 45. That, however, was only the case for a very short time. In the meantime, this product is “no longer available.” I wonder if the last Playmobil Bach was sold at that hefty price?..

Playmorama.de features an incredibly detailed promotional page and tribute speech dedicated to our Thomas Cantor. There, you can also learn that they produced 25,000 as a socalled special figure edition. And you can read that it was available for purchase from the Thuringian Tourism Association in Erfurt. And also directly from Playmobil. Neither option is available today. And upon inquiry, we were also told that there will be no second edition of the little Bach man. This fantastic editorial page is definitely worth a visit ... yours. However, you cannot purchase the Playmobil Bach there..
