First of all, I believe that very few children who are interested in Johann Sebastian Bach end up here. This section of the “Bach on Bach” website is therefore much more interesting for parents, godparents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, teachers, educators, and anyone who works with very young children. For I am firmly convinced – based on my own memories of school – that, from an educational standpoint, it is far more important not to “completely destroy” a very young person’s interest in a subject. And: It’s not about getting him or her excited about it right from the start. That should only happen once they’ve become familiar with the subject matter … and only perhaps … at that. For us, that’s a completely different objective..

My Adventure With Bach's Music..

Sparking interest using 33 of Bach’s 1,128 musical works as examples. Here’s an example from my life with the Thomas Cantor: a “Best of Bach CD”. I had bought it – a long, long time ago – in the U.S. The result: I thought exactly two tracks were great. Three were good. Five I didn’t like at all. Ten I even found awful. My conclusion: Bach was not for me. That was well over a decade ago..

What I’m offering you today on this, my website, would have been valuable – to me, at least – back then. A selection of information that is both informative and, at the same time, entertaining. So I’m offering – and this is very important – the most popular “hits,” which are meant to serve as a taste of Bach’s music. From there, you can continue on your own. For me, for example, the Cello Suites aren't my thing. What really captivates me, on the other hand, were and still are the Brandenburg Concertos..

In general, the car – especially during a “suitable traffic jam” on the interstate – the drive home when it feels like a million other people are doing the same thing, and the trip to your vacation destination are the ideal times to “consume” Bach..

I don’t want such Bach products – promoted with marketing gimmicks – on this, my Bach on Bach website. And you shouldn’t buy them ... or even try them out. Because they’re nothing more than simply wonderful music by Bach. Music that, however, has not been specifically optimized, selected, or compiled for your child or your dog. Nor is it suitable for inspiring a lasting love of music in your children..
