Johann Sebastian spent his childhood in Eisenach and Ohrdruf, Thuringia and then moved to Lüneburg, Lower Saxony. After completing his schooling in Lüneburg, he returned to Thuringia. That is where his professional career began. First in Weimar, but only for a very short time. This was followed by positions in Arnstadt, Mühlhausen ... and again in Weimar, this time for longer. Much, much longer. The next town where he worked and lived was Köthen in Saxony-Anhalt. Finally, he spent a full 27 years in Leipzig, Saxony..

To start with, there are three cities in Thuringia. It begins with A for Arnstadt. The next city starts with M for Mühlhausen, in the middle of the alphabet, and ends with W for Weimar, at the very end of the alphabet. So, just remember A - M - W. After his second stay in Weimar, Bach worked and lived in Köthen. His life finally came to an end in Leipzig in 1750..
