The Most Well-Known Classical Music Works..
And that’s where it all comes down to: what exactly is meant. Are we talking about the titles of the Classical Music pieces? Or are we talking about the composer’s overall body of work? Based on their names alone, Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9th Symphony are certainly two of the most famous Classical Pieces. The Ave Maria, whether by the “Bach-Gounod team” or by Schubert. The Nutcracker is in the same league. So are Bach’s Mass in B Minor and Handel’s Hallelujah. But, but ... these pieces are known by name. That is to say, if you ask a musician or a music teacher about the most famous Classical Works, they will certainly name the ones listed above. However, they aren’t necessarily the best-known Classical Works when it comes to how many people have already heard a particular piece.
