Which Music Works of Bach Are the Most Beautiful or the Best Ones?
That ... is what you don't really want to know from me here, do you?! I'm not going to get myself into that much trouble. The most beautiful work? And I'm supposed to decide? No. Not here. Not me..
However ... ..
In my own experience, I’ve found that you can’t leave this decision up to anyone else – not to any single person – because, first of all, they’ll base their choice on their own taste. And that taste can be completely different from your own. Secondly, because all compilations with the slogan “Best of …” are heavily influenced by commercial considerations. For example, it’s cheaper to buy works that are easy to record than those that are complicated. And short pieces are easier to compile onto a CD than a three-hour work. Finally, because sometimes you can buy various pieces together at a discount and then resell them. That’s why I didn’t like a “Best of Bach” CD. In other words, I didn’t like many of the pieces on it. And that’s how this website came about ... and especially this section, my “Music Work Corner”.
Today you find a selection of the most popular and best known pieces on the page "Bach Work + Music", because in contrary to the most beautiful music pieces the most known and most popular compositions are clearly to research. On an objective basis, not on a subjective. However, it's not a real scientific approach. But, you can get closer to what you actually want. Finally, a little unscientific proof is as well, that I really love thirty of those thirty-three works much. There are only two, which I like less - and there is one only, which I "hate".
Under “Music and Work”, you’ll now find a selection of his most popular and well-known pieces. After all, unlike the most beautiful pieces, the most popular and well-known ones aren’t a matter of subjective opinion, but can be objectively researched. Using YouTube and Google, it’s possible to come up with a rough ranking. Of course, this is still not scientific in nature. But it brings us closer to the goal. After all, a small piece of unscientific evidence is that I myself really like 30 of these 33 works. There’s only one I don’t like as much … and there’s one that “I’d even run away from.”..
