The Bach Calendar "Bach Monuments": The Very First Bach Calendar of "Bach 4 You"..

What do we mean? The headline dates back to a time when the Bach monuments calendar was the only calendar that Bach 4 You had published. So the entire print lineup consisted of a book – the Bach Biography for Children – a Bach Coloring Book, and a single calendar. That was it. So back then, the question was: Is Bach 4 You – or rather, the Renate Bach Publishing House – even a real publishing house? A real book publisher or a real calendar publisher? And we thought: of course it is. Just a very tiny one. But a real powerhouse. And a publisher that no longer keeps most of its music calendars lying around, but instead has them freshly printed one by one: Print-on-demand. Because: Calendars are a “perishable commodity.” Until January or February of each coming year, people enjoy them, look for them here and there. And then they order one. Or pick one up somewhere. But whatever isn’t sold by then is waste paper and ends up – Bach calendar or no Bach calendar – in the trash can. Unfortunately..

On the other hand, the market for Bach fans and people who might be interested in giving such a Bach calendar to friends is very, very small. Actually ... it’s tiny. This design features exactly 24 portraits by both renowned and completely unknown painters in a Bach calendar. The appeal also lies in the interplay of colors: The historical portraits are black and white, while the contemporary works are wonderfully colorful. We didn’t want to use the usual images of Bach – the ones you’re familiar with – here. And so the works by Ihle, Rentsch, Haußmann, and the so-called “old age portrait” are not included. It was the start of winter in 2015, and the pre-Christmas season had already begun in late November. The first Bach calendar was supposed to have been printed and delivered to our Publisher well before late November. But: First of all, everything takes longer ... and secondly, it always takes longer than you think. So the first Bach calendar was finally ready to ship in early December ... finally.​.

But of course, that was just the beginning. It was the first of what would eventually become many Bach calendars: 20 Bach calendars, to be exact. And it was the first year it was ever offered. 2015..

The Publisher and the author did not intend to offer just two or three Bach calendars down the line. But a full 20. Perhaps even 30. That was our plan. The range was planned to span from historical motifs to modern interpretations. There were to be all sorts of exciting collections. Renate Bach Verlag’s Bach 4 You wanted to offer every single Bach fan – and anyone wishing to bring joy to a Bach fan – a fantastic selection.
