What Is "The Ursprung"?..
It is the “Ursprung (... Origin) of the Bach Family of Musicians.” Bach fans refer to it simply as “Ursprung.” Johann Sebastian Bach compiled it himself in 1735. It is a list of 53 male members of the Bach family of musicians, 41 of whom made music or earned their living through music. The “Ursprung” is definitely not a family tree, but it was of enormous help to Bach genealogists after Bach’s death. You can read more about this topic here..
