This was followed by the same title – or profession, if you will – at St. Blasius Church, or Divi Blasii, in Mühlhausen. In Weimar, at the court of Duke Ernst, Bach finally became concertmaster after many years. It was not until he arrived in Köthen that he also became band leader there. And in Köthen, he also called himself music director. Prince Leopold appointed him Kapellmeister of the Electorate of Anhalt-Köthen. He continued to hold this title in Leipzig as well, when he became the Thomas Cantor there. In 1729, he was additionally appointed Grand Ducal Saxon-Weißenfels Court Kapellmeister by right of office. Finally, in 1736, he received the highest honor when the king in Dresden appointed him Royal Polish and Electoral Saxon Court Composer..
