Bach FAQ 161
By Renate Bach
The small Bach mini biography and the smallest Bach mini biography: They are clearly visible above. But you may now be wondering where the second Bach beer stein and the third Bach beer stein are in this photo. Nowhere in the picture above. But you will find them both... a little further down this page: Bach beer stein number 2 and number 3. But what about the two books at the top? Peter, my husband (... you can find out more about him at the very bottom of this page), thinks they are two of the best Bach biographies ever written. You can find out more about these two Bach biographies via this link here..
You don't want to read so much right now ... You'd like to visit the shop? Please click on this link..
The Bach mini biography and the Bach beer stein. You may be able to find both of these elsewhere. But one thing is certain: Nowhere else will you get six free extras with your purchase: First, there is the Bach Biography for Children. It comes as an eBook, an audiobook with music by Bach, and also as a PDF for your tablet. In addition, you will receive the Quotes Medley, which combines Bach quotes and Bach music into an attractive audio collage..
Then there is the Bach Obituary from 1750. As an audiobook. The obituary is the first short biography about the most famous composer of all time. Finally, there is the Old Bach Complete Edition. That is the name given to the 16,800 sheets of music that you receive as PDFs. Not on paper and not in 50 volumes. All six free extras together are worth around € 64. And you get the “almost priceless” 16,800 sheets of Bach music as PDFs..
Of course, we are searching every week for these two historical Bach treasures, and we find quite a few that are suitable. However, quality plays a major role when we consider adding one or the other used item to the Bach 4 You shop's range. The smallest Bach mini-biography is so valuable and so rare that it can only be found in flawless condition and in the best possible state of preservation. But ... that's not often the case..
The situation is somewhat different with the slightly larger Bach mini biography. This mini biography itself is usually flawless, but it is decorated with the slipcase that was once intended to protect the Bach mini biography. This makes it more difficult to “unearth treasures” that are almost undamaged: We only buy copies in the best condition with only minor damage to the corners or edges of the slipcase..
The large and very valuable Bach beer stein (... two images below) has also been treated to 99 percent perfection and has practically no damage. However, the situation is completely different with the light blue/dark blue specimen. The tin lid is the challenge here: This Bach beer stein is practically no longer available with a silver-colored, that is, shiny lid. It has always been tarnished to a dull black. Since 1985. In twelve years, we have never found a Bach beer stein that did not have a deep black lid..
But meanwhile, we have become “masters of restoration”. Using the right cleaning paste, we manage to restore it almost to its original condition. Only the Bach seal and the year 1685 cannot be completely restored to their original condition. They remain black, but this makes the seal more visible. And that could have been designed that way from the beginning (... but it wasn't)..
Finally, regarding scratches on the lid. We only accept Bach beer steins if the lid is free of scratches. To verify this, you need to be able to see in photos that there are no scratches. This means that you need to see photos of the stein taken in different lighting conditions. You can visit the shop again by clicking here. But why not take a look further around this page first and find out more about the Bach mini biography 1 and the Bach mini biography 2, the Bach beer stein from 1985, the Bach beer stein from 2000, and both real Bach biographies at the top of the picture?!..
No “AgonY of Choice”: Six Great Free Extras ... Which You Get with the Purchase of One of the Two Bach Mini Biographies... All Six of Them, in Fact..
Here are the six free extras compiled for you in an overview. You get the Bach Biography for Children, and also for adults, in three versions. You don't have to decide: as a PDF for your tablet, as an eBook (... ePUB), and also as an audiobook with 19 music segments. Then there is the Bach Medley and the Bach Obituary from 1750. Both are a kind of audiobook. Finally there are the 16.800 Bach music sheets as a PDF..

1. The Almost Smallest Bach Mini Biography ... When You Purchase It, You Will Receive Six Free Extras..
The Bach mini biography No. 1. What do you see in the photo above? First, the book slipcase... or the cover of the book. Or maybe you like the two coins ... not really now. The book cover is made of leather, the lettering is gold. But you still don't know how much bigger the Bach mini-biography 1 is than the Bach mini-biography 2. To find out, you can scroll back to the top of this page. You'll also get a sense of how tiny this book is compared to the coins. A note for Germans, Europeans, and Americans: On the left is the euro (... of course), on the right is the US quarter dollar. To scale, of course. The two coins are not included with your purchase. Sorry. To the shop..
Yes, there are actually two versions of the Bach mini biography: the larger Bach mini biography No. 1 and the tiniest Bach mini biography No. 2. Both are – so to speak – responsible for the creation of this website page. To accommodate you if you are looking for one Bach mini biography or the other Bach mini biography. Or both. On the internet. On Google. We at the Publishing House know where you can still find them ... very rarely. Both the Bach mini biography No. 1 and the Bach mini biography No. 2 ... and in excellent condition. Pre-owned, of course ... but that hardly matters to Bach fans..
Now, we maybe have to disappoint everyone who is reading here, because the following recommendations are only for German-speaking folks. The Eidam biography can found, new, on Amazon. However, the "Little Chronicle" ... is what we do not find anymore at all ... in English. They are two wonderful books about Bach, namely Klaus Eidam's biography of Bach, “Das wahre Leben des J.S. Bach” (The True Life of J.S. Bach) – only available second-hand, as it is unfortunately no longer in print – and what is perhaps the most successful “biography” of Johann Sebastian Bach. The latter is also no longer in print and can only be found second-hand: “The Little Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach” by Esther Meynell. Everything on this website is "only" available second-hand... but always in excellent condition from the publisher “Bach 4 You.”. In German..
Bach Mini biography No. 1 is actually a serious reading offer. Only the font size tends to be tiny. And as you can see in the picture above, there is still a lot of reading to do after pages 78 and 79. In the following section, you will learn about Bach Mini biography No. 2: even smaller, even cuter, even more valuable..
2. The Even Smaller, Tiniest Bach Mini Biography ... and You Also Get Six Free High-Quality Extras with Your Purchase..
The tiny Bach mini biography No. 2. No, the two coins are not included with the purchase. The cover is made of leather and has a buckle. Also made of leather. The Bach mini biography is inserted on the right. On the left side of the leather cover is a recess that fits the plaque perfectly. We removed it for the photo and illuminated it so that Johann Sebastian Bach can be seen on it. You guessed it: It's not “just any” plaque. It's a plaque from the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory. The book features Bach's supposed seal, which is over 200 years old. That is, the one with seven cones (... it was recently discovered that the original only has five cones). The protective cover of the plaque on the left features the coat of arms of Leipzig. Both imprints on the right and left are gold-colored. A Euro and a US quarter Dollar are also shown in this photo for a realistic size comparison. And no, once again, the two coins are not part of the offer. The coins will remain here... for the next photos. Click here to go directly to the two Bach treasures..
Do you have any idea when it was published? And why? That's right, you know Bach's date of birth, and 1985 marked the 300th anniversary of that date. In 2018, we celebrated Bach's 333rd birthday. So is this little mini biography of Bach a future antique? That's right, in 2023 it will be 37 years old..
Finally, let's take a look inside the publication. What else could be mentioned? That's right, it's an extract from the biography of the famous Bach biographer Forkel..
A Little Information About the Six Wonderful, Exciting Bach Additions..
First of all, this is our Bach Biography for Children. But in fact, it is also (... and in two additional versions) from four up to eight hours of listening pleasure for adults. The Bach music woven into the audiobook makes this work special. There are 19 pieces of music that connect the chapters. However, only very short pieces of music are included. Each is only about three minutes long. This Bach biography is available as an audiobook and ( ! ) as a PDF file and ( ! ) as a version for your tablet. The audiobook version is available with more music. And with no music at all. By Bach..
Then there is the complete Alte Bach-Musik-Gesamtausgabe (... Old Bach Music Complete Edition): This is not music to listen to. Instead, it consists of 16,800 sheets of music containing Bach's original compositions, along with other fascinating material. We photographed it in Leipzig especially for our Bach Mission. And you will receive it as PDF files..
You can listen to the Bach Quotes Medley. Because we have also been working in the audio sector for 40 years, we have the “connections” and were able to put together a small work of art. Professional newsreaders comment on what we do for a living: producing shows for newspaper publishers, breweries, and our favorite client, a large freight forwarder in Baden-Württemberg. Two of these professionals in the recording studio spoke the most beautiful of 66 Bach quotes, and we transformed them with a few seconds pause ... to reflect on each quote ... into an exciting Bach offering. In the first third of the medley, you can hear a nine-minute short biography of Bach's life and work. It is also accompanied by music by the master himself. It's 72 minutes of listening pleasure that you're sure to enjoy more than once. Have a listen ... ..
The next “goodie” is the Bach Necrology of 1750. However, it was not published until 1754. It was written by three authors who were very close to Johann Sebastian Bach. The first was Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, one of the two very famous sons of the Eisenach native. The second was a student of Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Friedrich Agricola. And the third was the Leipzig publisher Johann Christoph Mizler. What is exciting about this very first short biography, which can also be read in various versions in the Bach on Bach project, is the special German language used. It is the way people spoke at that time. You can also listen to this audio recording..
And ... there's no “agonizing over the choice.” Or is there? No, because you don't have to choose one or two of the six bonus features; you get all six when you purchase one of the two Bach mini biographies. Want to visit the shop now for Bach the mini biography no. 1 and Bach mini biography no. 2?..
Our Shared Mission: Peter's Project “bach Über Bach” (... "bach on Bach") and My Publishing House “bach 4 You” in Flein, Near Heilbronn in Southern Germany..
That's me, Renate Bach. With my Publishing House, I try to make at least a little money to cover what my husband has spent on his Bach portal, or rather his Bach portals: on illustrations, stamps, woodcuts and steel engravings, paintings, travel expenses, accommodation, a genealogist, various DNA tests, and much, much more. Of course, you will probably find more Bach treasures here than anywhere else in the world..
In addition, there are motifs for my music calendars and composers calendars (... in these calendars, I present Bach's “competitors,” namely many Classical Composers). And then there are my pipe organ calendars. My shop is intended for people who are interested in Classical Music or who are “just” music fans. It is also an “adventure playground” for Bach fans and Classical Music fans. Feel free to drop by and take a non-binding look around..
By the way, the small German flag in the picture above and below is here because my husband and I are “working” on our Mission in the International Johann Sebastian Bach Dream Team together with enthusiastic Bach fans all over the world: Each of these volunteers has added his or her national flag. Why not take a look there too?..
This is Peter Bach, Jr., my husband. He likes to write. And he likes to write a lot. That's how he describes himself when he wants to avoid the word “writer” at all costs. Actually, the word ‘author’ too. Yes, he wrote the Bach Biography for Children and “invented” the Bach Coloring Book. In addition, his websites are filled to the edge with texts and beautiful (... he attaches particular importance to this) ... really beautiful pictures. He spends our money – on Bach-related things – and buys and buys. Because more websites require more pictures. He has set his mind on making J.S. Bach and his work even better known. Just as his father promoted South Tyrol and Bavaria. It is Peter's Bach project. His Bach project and my Calendar and Book Publishing House together form our joint Bach Mission..
We each have our own “empire.” Bach Project, Bach Mission, Book and Calendar Publisher. Why not take a look at my husband’s website? At Bach on Bach for all Bach fans, those interested in Bach, and of course for Bach beginners. Shortly afterwards, Bach for Children was launched for kids, teens, and young people. This website is exciting because it appeals to three different age groups. And also to parents, grandparents, and teachers. Next, Bach in Wechmar came into being ... and these are just three of several websites in his project spanning many, many years..
Wait ... There Is Something More: The Music of Johann Sebastian Bach – His Complete Works – The “Bach Music Complete Edition”... That's 142 Cds and Six Free Extras..

The complete sheet music by Bach is cool and actually ... almost priceless. Click here to visit the shop. But please note: You won't receive the 16,800 sheets of music in volumes like the one at the top left. Not ... on paper. But as PDFs..
