Bach FAQ 142
The Bach on Bach project has many aims: to spread information, entertain, and publish discoveries and rediscoveries. It also aims to present everything in a light and modern form. It does not want to have to make way again soon because another online offering has become hip..
In a world with a galloping, even greedy desire to constantly be offered something new, treasures that have already been discovered are lost again. The bibliography of Professor Yo Tomita at the University of Belfast in Ireland lists 78,500 publications on the subject of Bach. Hidden within these thousands of works are discoveries that have, so to speak, “disappeared” again, like sunken cultures. Works that are “lost again” in the ever-increasing flood of information in our age. To rediscover a few of these gems, compile them, and finally, manage them in a very special way: That is my and our goal..
Entertainment and fun should become the "engine" that drives the desire to experience everything. That is my vision and our vision with this project. I want to transfer this collective knowledge about Bach into the future. That is what this work aims to do ... my work. It aims to create a parallel universe, but also a partner universe to Bach's magnificent music. A universe that will still tell stories, report, and inspire about the time before our time in 200 years. This Johann Sebastian Bach Project also sees itself as a virtual, exciting “museum” dedicated to one of the greatest composers of all time..
I was speechless when I first heard that there are around 53,000 written publications on the subject of the Thomas Cantor a decade ago. And that there is a person who constantly and continuously lists them. Tirelessly: It is Yo Tomita, or rather Professor Yo Tomita. There are around 700 biographies about Johann Sebastian Bach alone. That's right ... it's a rough estimate, and the number doesn't change every month..
However, the number of publications on Johann Sebastian Bach seems to change on a weekly basis. Well, not every week a new book about Bach is published. But sometimes there are several per month. Worldwide. And for a proper Bach portal, for an exciting Bach portal, and for a serious Bach portal, one of the tasks in the future will probably be to search for all new books, track them down, and then tell the world about them..
But because one Bach book after another seems to be appearing, if I only presented the latest one, the exciting one before that would quickly disappear again. If you weren't a regular visitor here or a fan on Facebook, you might miss it. That would be a great shame..
That's why I always present the latest books on Johann Sebastian Bach here. Compact, with just a few lines. But always with the relevant links. You can use these links to find out more ... on this website, of course. About Bach authors, Bach biographers, and all those who are neither Bach biographers nor Bach authors, but who have nevertheless come up with a publication on the subject. You will find information about the content of the books. And of course, you will also find out what I think about a new publication. That is, if I've had the time to indulge in this reading pleasure. Because you surely want this website to finally be finished..
