What Is the "Bach Werke Verzeichnis"?

After Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy reperformed Johann Sebastian Bach's St. Matthew Passion for the first time 101 years after its debut performance and more and more people got excited by Bach's music in the years after that event, the whole work of the exceptional composer was absolutely unorganized and very confusing. The "Bach Werke Verzeichnis", which in English is the "Bach Works Catalog" is a first arrangement of Bach's compositions done by the Bach Society in Leipzig. Today there are more catalogs to make the work of Bach clearly arranged. In addition to the "Bach Werke Verzeichnis". However, this catalog is by far the best known collection.
